Job Description

Salary Range:   Contact salary   


 


Contract Length:  Teacher contract


 


Immediate Supervisor:     Principal           


 


Basic Function: Must have: Knowledge of the engineering design process 


Hands-on special class teaching grades K-5, including but not limited to designing, constructing, building, and engineering products based around units of study. 


 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


 



  •  Work cooperatively with classroom teachers and staff to incorporate STEAM units of study. 

  • Researching and developing innovative maker activities.

  • Providing inspiration and support for faculty and students in developing and implementing STEAM units of study. 

  • Maintaining the tools, materials, and safe use of materials. 

  • Being committed to student learning, personal growth, and professional development.


 


Qualifications: 



  • Varied professional experience, both in classroom settings and outside of schools; Former entrepreneurs encouraged, having demonstrated ability to independently develop professional connections and skills. 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Genuine excitement for and ability to work with students, faculty, staff, and parents. 

  • Experience working on interdepartmental projects.


 


Physical Demands:


Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other technologies and office equipment, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; kneeling; bending at the waist; lifting; pushing; pulling and carrying equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to use a computer keyboard; emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read; prepare and assure the accuracy of documents.
