Position Summary:
Under the leadership of the IT Operations Manager and Director, Information Technology, the PC Technician is an active member of the Information Technology (IT) team that works to determine the strategic vision, goals, philosophy and direction of the department and CRHS. The PC Technician assists the IT Systems Administrator and the Technical Support Analyst in the support, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of CRHS PC (personal computer) workstation, end-user hardware and related system architecture. The PC Technician is also responsible for the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of PCs and associated software and will assist in selection and implementation of PC hardware and software. In addition, the PC Technician is responsible for completion of routine day-to-day processes, to include monitoring system parameters and security on a regular basis, installation and configuration of system hardware as required, general preventive maintenance activities, and providing end-user training and support as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Education: Requires a high school diploma or a GED state certification with additional vocational technical training in the Information Technology field. An Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred
Experience: This is an entry level position. However, any experience acquired via an IT co-op or internship is beneficial – especially experience acquired via an IT co-op or internship within a healthcare environment.
Licensure, Registrations & Certifications: No certification is required for this entry level position. However, IT industry recognized technical certifications, such as A+, Network+, etc. are highly beneficial.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Assists the IT Systems Administrator and the Technical Support Analyst in the maintenance of CRHS PC workstation and end-user hardware, including the initial setup and configuration of PCs and other hardware, and installs software updates.
- Installs, repairs and upgrades end-users’ PCs and provides or removes network access.
- Serves as backup to Helpdesk Coordinator for IT ticket creation and answering IT helpdesk line
- Maintains a basic working knowledge of the Cerner EMR.
- Completes end-user work requests in an efficient and timely manner.
- Provides end-user support for hardware and software as requested.
- Conducts system “in-service” training for hospital staff and physician end-users as needed.
- Coordinates the efforts of vendor contracted personnel for hardware and network support as needed on IT projects.
- Works efficiently and effectively toward the successful completion of team goals and objectives.
- Serves in on-call rotation for IT-related support.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned
