Position Summary
The Maintenance Helper supports skilled maintenance technicians in the repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of machine shop and production equipment. This position is hands-on and mechanically focused, working alongside maintenance staff to service industrial equipment, support repairs, and ensure equipment reliability in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
This role is intended for individuals with prior maintenance exposure or strong mechanical aptitude who are looking to grow into a Maintenance Technician path.
Responsibilities
- Assist maintenance mechanics and technicians with equipment repairs and troubleshooting
- Perform preventive maintenance on machine shop and production equipment
- Inspect equipment daily, including checking and documenting fluid levels (oil, coolant, hydraulics, etc.) and reporting abnormalities
- Assist with mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs under supervision
- Clean, lubricate, and service industrial machinery and equipment
- Assist with disassembly, repair, and reassembly of production equipment
- Support diagnostics and root-cause troubleshooting efforts with maintenance team
- Retrieve, organize, and stage tools, parts, and materials for repair work
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and equipment
- Remove debris, scrap, and buildup from machines and work areas
- Assist with safe rigging, moving, and positioning of equipment components
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements
- Use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment safely and correctly
- Assist with general facility upkeep, including cleaning, painting, and minor repairs as directed
