Summary:
The Technician 2, Electronics, will perform skilled technical duties in installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of low voltage electronic equipment.

Responsibilities:
· Performs a variety of troubleshooting and maintenance repairs of such equipment as data terminals, communication consoles, satellite receiver systems, base stations, remote control units, sirens, signals, alarms, and other types of low voltage electronic equipment.
· Maintains a variety of low voltage electronic equipment such as mobile and portable radios, data terminals, communication consoles, signals, alarms, office machines, and other types of low voltage in various types of county vehicles to include patrol cars, fire engines, trucks and vans.
· Installs low voltage electronic equipment located within district buildings or at field locations.
· Services and operates various pieces of test equipment such as oscilloscopes radio test sets, and digital multimeters.
· Coordinates projects and tasks with school staff as applicable, such as, informs site personnel of what materials to remove from surfaces, schedules move of students to separate locations.
· Maintains timely and accurate information regarding inventory records of assigned service vehicle, tools, and equipment.
· Assists higher level technicians in the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment.
· Requires a general understanding of miscellaneous maintenance tools and their basic use and operation in a safe manner consistent with current district and OSHA regulations.
· Performs installs, maintenance, alters, and repairs related low voltage components in district facilities.
· Operates all hand tools and power tools to perform functions for specific trades.
· Adheres to principles and practices of safe use including but not limited to operation of equipment, tools, materials and district-owned vehicles including maintenance of such equipment of tools.
· Performs "clean up" and worksite restoration activities, such as, picks up excess repair materials, cleans flooring, replaces furniture, and wipes down surfaces.
· Responds to emergency "call-outs" after hours.
· Attends training required by the district to keep abreast of current technology relevant to these trades.
· Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in maintaining communications or electronic low voltage systems.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Possession of a valid Florida Class E driver's license and comply with district’s Safe Driver Plan.
Language Skills: Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals. Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public.
Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, crawling, handling, keyboarding, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, depth perception, color vision, and filed of vision.
Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.
Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 4, loud; extreme cold, extreme heat, wet/humid, work with cleaning chemicals - wear eye protection, Vibration/impact, work with or near heavy equipment, proximity to moving mechanical parts, exposure to electrical shock, and working in high exposed places.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Testing: Eligibility for interview requires the successful passing of a written and/or physical test verifying knowledge of basic terms and/or tools and their use.
