JOB OVERVIEW

The Material Handling Coordinator oversees the distribution of products from WIP and raw materials to internal customers, as well as the staging of finished goods for packaging. The role involves introducing process enhancements and improvements for the handling team and collaborating with other departments to assess and optimize material movement techniques in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

 

ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

  • Prioritizes safety, identifying hazards and reporting "Near Misses" to maintain a secure workplace.
  • Operates forklifts and equipment to move products efficiently.
  • Collaborates with teams and departments for timely project completion.
  • Demonstrates initiative and takes on additional responsibilities.
  • Prioritizes tasks, manages time effectively, and meets project objectives.
  • Fosters teamwork, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Assists in hiring, training, and conducting "Toolbox Talks" on best practices.
  • Encourages team development and addresses questions or issues.
  • Oversees work to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Supports company initiatives like 6S, F.I.F.O., and "tour-ready" workspaces.
  • Steps in for management, communicates deadlines, and adjusts schedules.
  • Mentors and cross-trains Material Handlers to enhance team skills.
  • Maintains clerical records related to the role.
  • Identifies production priorities and ensures task success.
  • Coordinates material movements and meets facility needs.
  • Evaluates and improves material flow between work centers.
  • Develops processes to boost material flow and on-time delivery to customers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required with 1 – 3 years’ experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Windows-based computer systems.
  • Skilled in operating a forklift while adhering to safety regulations.
  • Able to read and understand documents like sales orders, inventory records, and receiving slips.
  • Capable of writing standard documentation and communicating information to colleagues.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (CSI/Syteline preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
  • Positive references with excellent attendance and attitude.
  • Effective communication and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong leadership with conflict resolution skills.
  • Task prioritization and deadline focus with keen attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with a strong 6S background and F.I.F.O. knowledge.
  • Solid mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Experienced in barcode scanning, inventory traceability, and related training.
