Description

The Kindezi Culture Support Assistant will support the Assistant Principal of Culture & Community Wellness in establishing, maintaining and advancing a positive, safe, and productive student learning experience with clear school-wide and classroom rules and procedures, aligned with the Kindezi mission, vision and values within the online environment.

Reports to:  Principal 

Network Support: Senior Director of Culture & Community Wellness

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the establishment and maintenance of a positive, safe, and productive school culture with clear school-wide and classroom rules and procedures, aligned with our school values.

Community Connectedness 

  • Forming positive relationships and behavioral support to build socio-emotional skills.

  • Working collaboratively with the Assistant Principal of Culture & Community Wellness, teachers, the school social worker, and school behavioral health therapists to support student social emotional well-being and holistic growth.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Principal of Culture & Community Wellness to create and implement positive behavior interventions and supports.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Principal of Culture & Community Wellness to create and implement community building initiatives.

Student Supports

  • Conducting pro-active check-ins to check on student well-being, review goals and progress towards goals, review and practice replacement behavior(s), 

  • Implementing intervention strategies to assist students in dealing with or adjusting to life and/or making behavioral changes.

  • Utilizing restorative practices and tools to build community, address and repair harm 

Attendance

  • Responsible for collaborating with the school-based social worker and Assistant Principal of Culture & Community Wellness to address student absences.

    • Monitor weekly attendance data, contact student(s)/family regarding absences & well-being

 

Culture of Learning

  • Collaborate w/ admin and teachers to support a positive culture of learning and increase engagement during instruction and small group breakouts.

  • Facilitate scripted professional development sessions to build teacher skill set around culture and SEE curriculum, as necessary

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

  • Work closely with SEL coaches and social workers to implement holistic strategies and interventions

  • Facilitate small SEL groups

  • Support and/or facilitate the SEL Book of the Month read and activities

  • Deliver and/or support live explicit SEL instruction 

Additional Duties

  • Accurately complete daily reporting documentation

  • Attend student support and culture data team meetings

  • Other duties as assigned by administration

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree

  • At least 3 years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school students with the highest needs

  • Knowledge/training in restorative practices, crisis management and de-escalation strategies are strongly preferred

  • CPR and First Aid Certification (this can be obtained during the employment process)

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a United States citizen or otherwise have authorization to work in the United States

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree (minimum of approved 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) preferred

  • Have the ability to pass an Atlanta Public Schools background check and obtain a GaPSC-issued clearance certificate

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to use technology for meetings, professional development, and communication with all stakeholders

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience working with students in an urban district

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS: 

  • Compensation aligned with The Kindezi Schools’ salary schedule

  • Teacher Retirement System (TRS) pension, 403b plan, paid time off, health, vision, and dental insurance, employer-paid life insurance, and short and long-term disability benefits.  

JOB CLASSIFICATION: 

  • Salary; $35,000.00

  • Salaried, Full-Time, Exempt

 

Summary

Culture Support Assistants are placed on our Support Pay Scale, which includes step increases for each year of service at The Kindezi Schools. At this time, previous years of relevant experience outside of Kindezi are not factored into the Support Pay Scale.
