Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) | 2026–2027 School Year
📍 Location: AMS Little Rock
💰 Compensation: $15 – $17/ per hour (based on experience)
Position Overview
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

As a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant), you will work alongside educators to support student learning and classroom operations. This role includes providing small-group and individualized support, assisting with classroom management, and helping maintain a structured and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Support lead teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and transitions
- Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce skills and reteach concepts
- Support individualized learning plans and student interventions
Student Supervision & Environment
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal to ensure safety
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support behavior management and reinforce expectations
Operations & Collaboration
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
- Assist with grading and documentation as directed
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Substitute for lead teachers as needed
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a paraprofessional exam
OR - Associate’s degree or higher
- Prior experience working with children in a school setting
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate initiative
Preferred:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience working in Title I or diverse school environments
Background Requirements (Arkansas)
- Arkansas State Background Check
- Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check
- Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) required background clearance and fingerprinting
