Team & Culture

With a solid foundation in the construction industry the successful candidate will be familiar with the structure of a contract, and heavy civil construction methods. As an Estimator, the candidate can contribute to the requirements for proposals and tenders as directed while working under the guidance of the Estimating Manager. This is an opportunity to gain practical experience in estimating heavy civil construction projects throughout BC, but will also have the autonomy to take initiative with smaller opportunities to work independently.


An excellent communicator, the successful candidate will be able to provide support simultaneously to meet the unique needs of the client, the site team, and the office. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Business Development department. They can adapt quickly to the dynamic workloads associated with construction while meeting the expectations of a fast-paced environment.


Expectations

· Read and understand drawings and specifications and develop quantity takeoffs.

· Have experience in building project schedules and construction methodologies.

· Ability to work collaboratively with Estimating and Operations teams.

· Have an understanding of typical contract models used in heavy civil construction.

· Read and understand contract terms and conditions.

· Have a basic understanding of heavy civil construction activities, particularly around earthworks and concrete in remote locations.

· Natural ability to adapt quickly to changes in environment and application of work.

· Strong working independently and as a team.

· Keen to learn new tasks, take the initiative, and take on new responsibilities.

· Able to effectively manage time.


Qualifications

· 5 years of relevant experience in heavy civil construction preferred.

· Experience working with construction estimating software.

· Field experience, technical diploma, or engineering degree an asset.

· Registration with ASTTBC or EGBC an asset.

· Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

· Effective written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Project.

· Strength in change management.

· Adaptable under pressure.

· Organized and high attention to detail.
