Job Description

About Us

Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Signal Hill, California, Karman Industries is a fast-growing startup on a mission to revolutionize industrial scale heating and cooling. Leveraging breakthroughs from the aerospace and electric vehicle industries, our team is developing cutting-edge high-temperature heat pump technologies to make industrial processes and datacenter cooling more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable.

At Karman Industries, we foster a dynamic and inclusive work environment where innovation thrives. We are looking for passionate, high-impact individuals to join our team and help us accelerate the transition to a more sustainable world.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Simulation Engineer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, running, and analyzing high-fidelity simulations of our thermofluid and mechanical systems. Your work will directly influence the design and performance of our core technology, from initial concept through prototyping and validation. This is a critical role for a candidate who thrives on solving complex, real-world problems and is looking for their next big challenge.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate multi-domain physics models, analyzing fluid flow, thermal performance, structural integrity, and dynamic behavior of systems and components, including heat exchangers and turbomachinery.

  • Collaborate closely with design and test engineering teams to iterate on designs based on simulation results.

  • Process, analyze, and present simulation data to the broader team to provide actionable insights that will drive key engineering decisions.

  • Develop and refine simulation methodologies to improve predictive accuracy and computational efficiency.

  • Assist in correlating simulation results with experimental test data to ensure model fidelity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of professional experience in a simulation-focused engineering role.

  • Strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.

  • Proficiency in scripting for simulation automation and data analysis using languages like Python or MATLAB.

  • Experience with 0-d and 1-d analysis methods in multiple domains (e.g. fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, structural mechanics).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-domain physics simulation packages such as Simulink or Modelica.

  • Experience modeling rotating machinery, multiphase flows, or compressible fluids.

  • Experience with conjugate heat transfer simulations.

  • Hands-on experience with CAD software (e.g. NX or SolidWorks).

  • A track record of taking ownership of projects and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
