Conservation Head- Starting Technician (Part- Time)

Our Conservation Department is currently seeking Part-Time Head- Starting Technicians We are seeking two part-time technicians to handle daily care and husbandry of our Lake Sturgeon restoration initiative and provide support for our Blanding’s Turtle and Copperbelly Watersnake head-starting programs. This position reports to the Director of Vertebrate Conservation, is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, requires a minimum of 24 hours worked and may require work on weekends and holidays.

Essential Job Functions:
- Daily feeding, cleaning, and care of the captive conservation collection.
- Collecting accurate data, including weights, measurements, feedings, etc.
- Attention to detail, especially pertaining to the head-started animals.
- Weekly collection updates to supervisor.
- Training and supervising teenage volunteers or staff
- Additional Zoo-related tasks as required.
Minimum Training & Qualification
- Must be 18+ years of age
- Willingness and ability to work varying hours
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
- Dedication to accurate and thorough data collection
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude
- Respectful and professional in interactions with other team members, partners, and the public
- Must have the ability to lift 50lbs
- The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Prior experience working with captive turtles, snakes, or fish.
- Previous work with teenage volunteers or community outreach.
