Job Description

JOB TITLE: BSL2 Lab Technician                                                         

REPORTS TO: Lab Manager                                                      SHIFT: As needed

DIVISION:  2                                                                                FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

MIN. EDU LEVEL: Master’s Degree in related field               SALARY GRADE LEVEL: G11

 

SUMMARY:

Assists in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. Collect and prepare samples for various microbial, chemical, and molecular detection analyses using established procedures and techniques. Duties include evaluating and verifying sample results and data entry.

 

YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 TO WORK AT TRIUMPH FOODS. Triumph Foods only employs individuals who are 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18 your application will not be considered.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following: Other duties may be assigned.   

  • Aseptically collect and prepare samples for various microbial and chemical analyses.
  • Perform laboratory analysis using established procedures and techniques.
    • Including but not limited to ELISA, NIR, atomic absorption, and microbial plating.
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze samples following molecular detection protocols.
  • Evaluate and verify sample results and data entry.
  • Ensure safety, housekeeping, and compliance standards are maintained.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree from a 4-year college (preferably in a science-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE:

Understanding of basic laboratory techniques is preferred.

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid Driver’s license.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents in the English language, such as laboratory protocols, safety rules, and procedure manuals. Strong written and oral communication skills.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.

 

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must be proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be able to work as a team member and individually complete given tasks. Must be organized and detail-oriented.

Majority of duties are in the laboratory setting and requires trips through the facility, including temperature extremes.
