POSITION DESCRIPTION
HGL is seeking an experienced Work Planner (Project Planning Engineer III) with DOE/Nuclear and Radiological Controls experience to support a Deactivation, Decommissioning, and Removal project for five buildings at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) project site in Livermore, CA. The duration of project is anticipated to be 5 ½ years. Must have knowledge of work planning procedures for nuclear facilities. The person should have work planning experience, preferably in a DOE nuclear facility environment and knowledgeable of Integrated Safety Management.
Responsibilities/Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- The Work Planner/Project Planning Engineer is responsible for planning all aspects of the job to ensure job specifications are correct, appropriate tradesmen are available, necessary materials are available, and determine most efficient way to successfully produce the job according to the budget, schedule, and requirements.
- Plan and schedule decommissioning work activities for the project.
- Develop work packages that include time, material, and labor estimates, written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area.
- Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, structural and/or radiological equipment, policies, and procedures and may also include resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure.
Required Skills
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or physical sciences is preferred
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer literate and must be able to work within various computer systems, intermediate MS office skills are required (Word & Excel).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
- Attention-to-detail and time management.
- Must be able to work well independently and within a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Customer-focused.
- Experienced performing work in a highly regulated environment
- Must have excellent safety performance and judgement
Preferred Skills
WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT – Preferred, not required
- Minimum of five (5) years nuclear or industrial experience desired, preferably at a DOE nuclear site
- Radiological Worker and current HAZWOPER training preferred.

The salary range for this position ranges from $117,207.00-$181,671.00. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills. If your desired salary falls outside of this range, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.
