Summary of Position:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the manufacturing engineering and maintenance teams to drive operational excellence, safety, quality, and productivity improvements. This role oversees the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes, manages capital expenditure projects (CapEx), deploys lean manufacturing methodologies to reduce waste, and ensures maximum equipment reliability through robust maintenance programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through use of Lean and Six Sigma concepts and practices; conduct Kaizen events, Value stream mapping, line balancing, mistake proofing, TPM, 7 wastes, and 5S
- Develop, justify, and manage the annual capital expenditure budget (CapEx) for machinery, tooling, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Lead large-scale automation projects, including planning, installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment
- Identify process improvement initiatives and execute projects to improve safety, quality and productivity cost savings
- Optimize plant layouts, material flow, and process workflows to eliminate waste
- Establish and maintain standard work instructions, labor standards, and process documentation
- Implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices to increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Provide technical troubleshooting support to production to minimize downtime
- Track and report project statistics, timelines, budgets etc.
- Coordinate with other plant departments including: Operations, Quality, Sales, and Human Resources
