About the Department
Lamar University and faculty in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction seek a qualified, clinical instructor to teach, mentor, and advise students at the undergraduate level. This position requires the candidate to provide engaging and effective instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual learning environments. This position requires supervision of preservice teacher residents at K-12 campuses in southeast Texas.
The primary focus of instruction will be clinical teaching seminar, Human Development and Learning, special education, English learners, ed tech, etc.) Candidates should be committed to collegiality and continuous improvement based upon qualitative and quantitative data.
This is a nine-month appointment. The anticipated start date is August 2026. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications
- Earned MEd in Curriculum & Instruction with emphasis in elementary education, literacy, special education, or STEM field.
- State Teaching Certification in EC-3 or EC-6 in Texas
- Minimum of three (3) years of elementary teaching experience in a TEA accredited school district (public or private)
- Knowledge of field supervision and the T-TESS instrument
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience using Blackboard or similar LMS
- Earned PhD in Curriculum & Instruction with emphasis in elementary education, literacy, special education, or STEM field
- State Teaching Certification in EC-3 or EC-6 in Texas
- Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in a school district (public or private) at the lower or upper elementary level
- Experience in field supervision using the T-TESS instrument
- Experience working with residency programs
- Experience using Blackboard or similar LMS
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Prior experience teaching undergraduate courses in multiple modalities
- Knowledge of state Teaching Certification Exams
- Texas Teacher Certification at the elementary level
- Texas Principal certification
- Knowledge of Texas Teaching Certification Exams
- Prior experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in multiple modalities
- Experience with field supervision
- Earned PhD in Curriculum & Instruction with emphasis in elementary education, literacy, special education, or STEM field
Other Qualifications
- Knowledge of elementary learning and educational theory
- Knowledge of adult learners and adult learning theory
- Effective teaching in a variety of modalities
