Substitute School Nurse - Summer Position (2026)


 


General Description:


 


The summer school nurse oversees the health and wellness of students enrolled as well as the staff members in each program offered by Malden Public Schools. This is a seasonal position while the programs run, dates and hours vary depending on the program.





Responsibilities:



  • Provide routine daily care and administration of OTC and prescribed medications.

  • Provide emergency care to student and staff when needed

  • Maintaining daily medical log records and reporting any student incidents to the program coordinators

  • Performing other job-related duties


 


Requirements:



  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

  • Familiar with life threatening allergy protocols

  • Committed to working in and fostering an inclusive community

  • Respond calmly and efficiently to emergencies

  • Work collaboratively and independently

  • Maintain an enthusiastic and positive presence to all students, staff and families 

  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and risk management skills


 


Salary: $40 per hour
