As we continue to expand, we are seeking an Operations Control Center Operator to join our operations team and support our multi-entity, publicly listed environment.


Role Overview:

At Volatus Aerospace, the Operations Control Center (OCC) is the main control facility for Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) operations.  This mission critical facility houses OCC Operators, that are highly skilled individuals that work in a sterile environment.  The OCC Operator utilizes situational awareness data, along with ground control software to oversee the RPA’s operation. This Position is predominantly a sedentary office function.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and support safe RPA operations
  • Coordinate mission logistics and flight activities
  • Review and analyze flight operations and performance
  • Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight procedures
  • Communicate via aviation band radio with general aviation
  • Utilize radar and tracking systems to monitor flights
  • Coordinate with emergency response teams (fire, police, paramedics) as required
  • Support system integration, validation, and operational readiness
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Minimum s):

  • Transport Canada Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Pilot Certificate – Basic Operations
  • Experience operating UAVs / RPAS through Ground Control Station software (the more flight hours, platforms and systems, the better)
  • Knowledge of operating procedures and emergency procedures
  • Strong communication, situational awareness, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment

 

Qualifications (Assets):

  • Education or training in aerospace, aircraft piloting, engineering or a related field.
  • Experience communicating over VHF / air-band radio, including with air traffic control
  • Restricted Operator Certificate - Aeronautical (ROC-A)
  • Transport Canada RPAS Pilot Certificate – Advanced Operations, Level 1 Complex Operations, aor Flight Reviewer
  • Experience operating:
    • UAVs / RPAS beyond visual line of site (BVLOS),
    • Experimental unmanned aircraft systems, and/or
    • Under an SFOC or special / specific authorization for complex operations

 

Hours of Work, Work Environment and Potential Travel

  • Must be available:
    • Minimum 40 hours per week, with flexibility required based on operational needs
    • Rotating shifts, as services may operate 24 hours a day, 7 days per week
  • Position is predominantly a sedentary office function
  • High concentration required; work may involve mental stress
  • Travel may be required (approximately 10% of time), including cross-border travel to the United States.
  • Ability to travel to and work in remote or field locations, as required.

  • Must meet security requirements for the position
  • Must be eligible to travel within Canada and the United States
  • Valid driver’s license may be required
  • Pre-employment drug screening required for safety-sensitive roles, in accordance with Volatus policies
