Job Description

We are looking for a Middleware & Systems Administrator to join our team on a long-term engagement inside a modern payments environment.

The team operates enterprise middleware, transaction processing services and supporting platforms that demand 24/7 reliability. You will focus on system administration, optimisation and incident resolution for middleware and database-backed services supporting critical financial workloads.

What you will do

  • Deploy, configure and maintain WebLogic middleware and Linux application servers

  • Perform routine database support tasks and optimise SQL queries against Oracle databases

  • Manage application lifecycle tasks: patching, releases, configuration changes, rollback plans

  • Monitor systems, investigate alerts, troubleshoot incidents and apply fixes or escalate appropriately

  • Maintain runbooks, SOPs and technical documentation for operational procedures

  • Automate tasks using Bash/Python scripting and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform where applicable)

  • Support backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures, including DR drills

  • Manage certificates, keys and basic network configurations

  • Collaborate with developers, DBAs, network and security teams on cross-domain issues

  • Participate in on-call rota and occasional out-of-hours maintenance windows

  • Contribute to performance tuning and capacity planning



Requirements


  • 2–3 years’ experience administering applications or databases in production environments

  • Hands-on experience with WebLogic administration (installation, domain management, tuning)

  • Strong Linux (Red Hat/CentOS/Oracle Linux) skills — services, logs, package management, networking

  • Working knowledge of Oracle DB and SQL query optimisation

  • Good troubleshooting skills, log analysis and root-cause investigation

  • Professional attitude to operational discipline and documentation

  • English at a working level

Nice to have

  • Exposure to Oracle DBA tasks (backups, tuning)

  • Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes

  • Experience with Ansible, Python scripting, CI/CD for ops tasks

  • Exposure to Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Elastic

  • Understanding of security & compliance in financial systems

  • Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM tooling
