Intern Systems Engineer

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY


The Systems Engineering Intern position supports the Product and Innovation organization by performing lab tests of technical solutions aimed at improving products and services provided by SES Aero business to airlines. The role focuses on applying analytical skills and engineering process criteria to validate innovative concepts or disproof providing the corresponding recommendations and/or corrections.


The traffic management policies make a direct contribution to the company’s ability to present a differentiated portfolio of products to the customers while controlling the usage of the satellite bandwidth to reduce costs.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS


· Internet Applications Trends



  • Analysis on current Internet application trends per region.

  • Create baseline of the Quality of Service associated with the top Internet applications.

  • Create baseline of the Quality of Experience associated with the top Internet applications.  


· Proof-of-Concept Testing



  • Lab test of the product prototype against the top applications.

  • Performance analysis when the protype is subject to variations in bandwidth and link conditions.

  • Present report with results, including recommendations


· Production Validation



  • Validate lab findings with production data.

  • Participate in the production launch of the product.

  • Perform correlation analysis of what was observed during lab testing with production analysis.


COMPETENCIES


· Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into business insights


· Understanding of network data flow concepts


· Programming: Python


· Basic understanding of ISO communication levels   


· Familiarity with AI and its applications (not mandatory)


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE



  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in 


    • Data Science

    • Computer Science

    • Engineering

    • Information Technology


  • Experience working with large datasets and data processing tools

  • Exposure to Internet data traffic concepts

  • Experience with the Telecom Industry
