Extended School Year (ESY) 9th - 12th grade at DHS
Dates: July 6, 2026- July 16, 2026
Hours: 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
SUMMARY: Assists special education student, classroom teacher or special education support personnel in the implementation of instructional programs and management of behavior of students with disabilities for the ESY Program.
Note: These ESY positions are posted year to year as needed for the ESY Program and are not a permanent extension or addition to any established para educator hours.
RATE OF PAY: Step 1 or applicable step of the current DESPA Salary Schedule
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assigned to work in special education or general education classroom with student(s) with disabilities supporting the entire classroom or assisting specific student(s) with disabilities.
- Function under the direct supervision of a general or special education professional.
- Assists general education or special education with the development of work assignments, job responsibilities and services to student(s) with disabilities.
- Performs those health care, instructional or other related assignments developed by a special education professional for each specific student with a disability as well as all students in the classroom.
- Assists the special education classroom teacher, special education support personnel and general education teacher in the implementation of health care, instructional programs and the management of student behavior.
- Manages both behavioral and instructional logs.
- Monitors established goals and objectives for students.
- Bending, lifting and overhead work required.
- Attendance and punctuality to assignment required.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to work with parents, students and staff
- Computer skills necessary
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to be self-directed and ability to identify and solve problems
- Good attendance important for position and is expected
