Maintenance and Automation Technician
Job Location: Brea, CA
Job Summary:
The Maintenance & Automation Technician leads and supports the maintenance of Proponent’s growing fleet of automated packaging equipment. This critical role ensures maximum uptime and reliability for all Auto baggers, Epson SCARA robotic O-ring packaging systems, Caterpillar hardware counting machines, and related automation.
In this role, your primary responsibilities are (but not limited to):
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and standard work on all packaging and automation equipment to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic issues on Auto baggers, Epson SCARA robots, hardware counting systems, and ancillary machinery.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of new or existing equipment and automation systems.
- Collaborate with operations and quality teams to improve equipment performance.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and automation upgrades.
- Maintain tools, spare parts inventory, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Requirements for Success:
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated packaging machinery, industrial automation, robotics, or similar electromechanical equipment (e.g., field service in packaging, assembly lines, or manufacturing).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical failures quickly.
- Solid electronics and troubleshooting background (reading schematics, sensors, controls, basic PLC/HMI knowledge preferred).
