    POSITION:  Health Services Assistant (PHS)     Grade 3     37.5 hrs     Effective August 11, 2025

    SALARY:  Grade 3, Step 1, $24.78        Salary schedule is listed in the ESPA agreement linked here.  

    ASSIGNMENT:  10 Month

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  This work involves the prioritization of the health office needs and performance of general duties in support of the health office. There is considerable contact with staff, students, parents, and/or the general public, which requires the ability to deal with people in a courteous and tactful manner. 

    An employee in this position works within clearly established systems and procedures, must exhibit organizational skills and exercise independent judgment and confidentiality in the performance of duties.  The Health Services Assistant must exhibit initiative and embrace a collaborative team approach to accomplish the mission of the district.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must have physical ability to lift/move supplies, materials and office equipment up to 40 lbs.
    • Must sit at workstation for extended period of time and/or move frequently from workstation to various other areas of building.
    • Must organize and prioritize workflow.
    • Must be proficient in the use of computers, office practices, procedures and office equipment.
    • Must project a positive image of the district to students, staff and parents as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude.
    • Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills and communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff and parents, as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude.
    • Must have awareness of a variety of student needs including physical and social emotional needs.
    • Must assemble and organize data and prepare reports from records.
    • Must have possession of a valid Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/AED Certificate or equivalent.

    POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

    1. Supporting the nurse(s) in the efficient and effective functioning of the office including but not limited to:
     

    a.  prioritizing the health office needs

    b.  providing first aid services to staff/students as needed

    c.  responding effectively in emergency situations

    d.  providing and retrieving support equipment to injured students/staff

    e.  establishing, organizing and maintaining student health and emergency records

    f.   assisting with student registration including up-to-date immunization verification and proper medical forms 

    g.  entering accurate record keeping of daily health procedures/services in the Student Information System 

    h.  providing efficient and professional communication

    i.   assisting with material and supply inventory and distribution 

    j.   preparing for staff wellness activities

    2.  Participating in appropriate professional development activities in order to enhance job performance.

    3.  Cultivating and developing inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff, students and community members.
