Job Summary

The Project Buyer is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the purchasing of materials, supplies and services in line with established policies and procedures.
The role aims to optimize cost, delivery, and terms in support of the N&H Systems business.


 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

 

Support During Proposal Phase

  • Prepare bid requests and review requisitions.
  • Liaise with vendors to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Provide accurate purchasing information to the Proposals Team.

 

Project Execution

  • Plan project procurement activities in collaboration with Works Preparation, the Project Manager, and Engineering.
  • Present and validate supply chain elements during project kick‑off meetings, including identifying long lead time (LLT) and critical items.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery, and terms for purchase requisitions.
  • Attend supplier kick‑off meetings when required.
  • Participate in internal handover meetings and project reviews to align all supply chain activities.

 

Supplier Management

  • Ensure supplier delivery and quality by proactively driving supply chain actions.
  • Conduct supplier visits and shop inspections to verify progress and adherence to project milestones.
  • Resolve material discrepancies through close collaboration with suppliers and internal functions: Warehouse, Sourcing, Purchasing, Quality, Finance, etc.
  • Provide feedback for supplier performance evaluations and project scorecards.

 

Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Assist Purchasing with timely processing of invoices, including partial and progress payments.
  • Prepare reports on supplier progress, issues, and resolutions.
  • Monitor project budget, spending, and savings initiatives.
  • Complete KPIs and departmental effectiveness assessments.
  • Manage project documentation according to policies and systems (e.g., Eagle, PORA).
  • Promote good business ethics at all times.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation.
  • Solid understanding of end‑to‑end sourcing and procurement processes.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent communication: structured, clear, and logical.
  • Self‑motivated, quick learner, strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with cross‑site, multifunctional teams.

 

Education & Experience

 

Essential

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in supply chain.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, Microsoft applications, and data warehouses.
  • Experience working in a globally dispersed and diverse team.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate degree / MBA, PMP, CPSM.
  • Experience in a project‑oriented organization.
  • SAP experience.
  • International travel experience.
