Join our team as a Senior Procurement Lead, serving as the primary interface between Procurement, internal customers, and vendors across Con Edison and Orange & Rockland. In this role, you will support and lead a team responsible for sourcing materials, services, and construction and maintenance work for gas, steam, and electric transmission and generating facilities, while also executing select procurements yourself. You will collaborate closely with internal Operations partners, drive corporatewide cost savings, and ensure high availability, quality, and value through effective purchasing coordination and execution. Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Procurement Specialists and managing procurement buying tasks as needed.
- Coach and mentor team members to support their professional development and encourage best practices.
- Oversee performance management by setting goals, conducting assessments, and offering constructive feedback to drive ongoing improvement.
- Handle procurement buying to ensure efficient operations and compliance with company policies.
- Work closely with business users, engineers, and EH&S to satisfy the pending requests.
- Utilize the Strategic Procurement Operations sourcing processes and operating policies & procedures; including developing RFQs, Supplier Bid Evaluations, Negotiations, and Supplier Relationship Management.
- Support category management activities through providing supplier data, spend information, and any other relevant information to assist with the optimization and strategic sourcing of managed spend category.
- Drive Total Cost of Ownership improvements to reduce costs and transactions; execute contract consolidation opportunities.
- Liaise with internal customers of respective purchasing categories to ensure minimal disruption to customer service due to the procurement process.
- Manage customer expectations effectively and communicate with customer groups regarding procurement policies as these relate to customer notice provision, requests, etc.
- Identify Procurement process and technology improvement initiatives and work with Projects & Planning function to develop initiative proposals and documentation for review.
- Conduct meetings/requisition planning with internal customers.
- Manage service delivery by supporting transactional processes (e.g. invoice questions, etc.), auditing processes, training users, etc.
- Conduct procurements in accordance with existing contracts, and may be required to issue spot buys, BPA's, CPA's as necessary.
- Emphasizes cost savings targets, supplier diversity, sustainability goals
- Performs other relevant operational procurement assignments as discussed with management.
- Enhance supplier relationships and meet with suppliers on a regular basis.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree In a related field, such as Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, etc and 3+ years of work
- experience. or
- Bachelor's Degree In a related field, such as Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, etc and 5+ years of work experience.
