Job description
The Accountant is responsible for the daily execution of financial operations, ensuring the integrity of the books of accounts through hands-on bookkeeping, transaction processing, and rigorous documentation. This role provides the essential data foundation for the Finance Manager by maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring that all accounts payable, receivable, and payment activities are completed timely and accurately.
Job requirements
Education- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Required work experience related to position
- Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably within the construction or EPC industry.
- Software: Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP, Business Central, or Tally.
Special requirements
- Hands-on Mindset: Willingness to handle high volumes of manual data entry and invoice matching.
- Statutory Knowledge: Practical understanding of GST operational requirements and TDS deduction rules in India.
Job responsibilities
1. General Ledger & Bookkeeping- Transaction Recording: Perform hands-on bookkeeping for all daily business transactions in accordance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS).
- Month-end Support: Prepare journal entries and perform reconciliations for bank accounts, inter-company balances, and vendors to support timely monthly closings.
- Payroll Disbursement: Coordinate with the outsourced payroll provider to facilitate timely payments to the vendor and ensure employee net pay and statutory dues (PF/ESIC/PT) are executed via the payment run.
- Asset Tracking: Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accurate depreciation entries are captured monthly.
2. Accounts Payable & Invoice Management
- Invoice Matching: Execute rigorous three-way matching of invoices against Purchase Orders (POs) and Good Receipt Notes (GRNs).
- Payment Processing: Manage the regular payment run process, ensuring all vendor payments are authorized and processed within contractual terms.
- Transactional Support: Coordinate with outsourced service providers for high-volume transactional tasks, ensuring quality and accuracy of their output.
3. Tax Operations & Documentation
- Statutory Postings: Ensure correct application of GST and TDS rates on all vouchers and maintain the necessary documentation for monthly tax filings.
- Audit Readiness: Organize and maintain physical and digital vouchers to ensure the entity remains audit-ready for annual statutory assessments.
- Compliance Support: Assist the Finance Manager in compiling data for GST for works contracts and Income Tax (TDS/TCS) compliance.
4. Accounts Receivable & Billing
- Billing Execution: Generate customer invoices based on contractual milestones provided by the project team.
- Collection Support: Track outstanding receivables and provide aging reports to assist in managing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
