Job Description

Description:  

Responsible for supporting depot-level modification, upgrade, & test of aircraft sub-systems under the guidance of Lead or Level III Technicians. Duties may include, but are not limited to, inspecting, testing, modifying, and repairing avionic as well as other electrical systems/sub-systems. Examples include radar, radio, navigation, and aircraft power systems/sub-systems.

What you will be responsible for:  

  • Modifies, upgrades, inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs aircraft avionic and electrical systems, such as aircraft installed radar, radio, navigation, and power systems using hand tools and test equipment
  • Inspects components of avionic and electrical systems and equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation
  • Tests avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers
  • Using hand tools, adjusts, repairs, and/or replaces defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents
  • When required, calibrates installed, modified, or repaired systems and/or equipment to prescribed specifications
  • When required, operates ground servicing equipment to operationally test, inspect, and verify functionality and air worthiness of avionic and other electrical systems
  • When required, assist in fabricating wiring harnesses
  • Accurately document all required U.S. Government and program forms and documents, including electronic records 
  • Must effectively interact with program and customer representatives as well as on-site business or military representatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you will need to be successful in this role: 

  • High School Diploma / GED  
  • 4 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
  • F-16, F-15, or other fighter jet experience is strongly preferred, but other aircraft experience may be considered.
  • 5th generation aircraft experience is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills are a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to work 1st or 2nd shifts as-needed.
  • Positions are expected to start in March or April.
