Cybersecurity Programs

There are adjunct openings to teach in the Cybersecurity, Networking, Cloud Security, Integrated Control Systems (ICS) or SCADA, and Digital Forensics in the following formats: Face to Face (on campus) only

General requirements:

Adjunct Instructors are responsible for delivering curriculum, providing instruction, and performing student learning assessment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning.  Adjuncts will provide feedback on designing syllabi, lesson plans, lab activities, writing assignments, exercises, and assessments to meet the established course descriptions as well as program, course, and college learning outcomes and objectives while addressing each student's needs as diverse learners.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate theoretical and practitioner experience.  They should have a strong technical background in one or more of the following fields:  Cloud Computing, Windows Server and Networking, Linux/Unix/Red Hat Server and Networking, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, SCADA and ICS, Penetration testing, and Ethical Hacking.  All applicants are required to have a masters degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.  Applicants who possess considerable experience in the field of cybersecurity are strongly encouraged to apply.  Preferred qualifications are teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level, a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a closely related filed with a focus on cybersecurity.   For applicants interested in teaching face-to-face, they should be resident of Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey.  Online instructors must be based in the United States.  Other requirements are:

  • Teach in the classroom (on one of the Delaware campuses).
  • Understand the mission and values of Wilmington University.
  • Submit a Teaching Philosophy, following these guidelines:  Provide a description of your teaching philosophy. Your description should be no more than 1.5 pages in length and should include the following information: (1) A brief statement (5-7 sentences) explaining how you plan to provide excellence in teaching, relevancy of curriculum, and individual attention to students, which is the cornerstone of Wilmington University’s mission statement. (2) Based on your statement above, please briefly answer the following questions: (a) Explain your beliefs, theories and/or methods regarding teaching and how they shape your concept of successful teaching? (b) How do you know when you are teaching effectively? (c) How do you develop and maintain positive relationships with students? (d) How do you create a supportive learning environment? and (3) Include a summary of your thoughts on education and the role that you feel you could play in developing students to be successful in their discipline, career, and life. (This statement must be  attached via the attachments area of the application - on the space provided in the application, enter "see attached".) 
  • If hired, be willing to complete Wilmington University’s Learning Management System (Canvas) and Hybrid Online Training courses
  • Possess knowledge of various instructional strategies designed to meet the course instructional objectives and add to student learning.
  • Be able to develop a personalized course outline designed to follow a generic syllabus provided by the University.
  • Qualified applicants may be asked to present a writing sample
  • Qualified Applicants may be asked to present a 10-minute teaching sample for the Program’s Director and Chair as part of the interview process.
  • If hired, be able to abide by tight deadlines required of a 7 week Block format curriculum and teach during daytime hours.
