Supervising PIP Defense Attorney


Responsibilities

Staff Counsel for CURE Auto Insurance has openings resulting from our launch and expansion into

the Michigan market. We are looking for an experienced supervising PIP defense attorney with 10+

years of civil litigation experience in handling these types of claims. This experience should include

taking and defending depositions, negotiation proficiency, and experience successfully trying cases.

Additional leadership potential opportunities expected with continued expansion of the firm. Staff

Counsel will be responsible for handling PIP files from inception through trial and appeal, if

necessary. A supervising PIP attorney will also be responsible for supervising 10+ attorneys within

the PIP department in the law firm. The Supervising Attorney will oversee the onboarding of staff

attorneys and provide ongoing coaching to ensure consistent adherence to the firm's policies and

procedures. All candidates must possess excellent academic credentials, outstanding written and

oral advocacy skills and strong software/technological skills, including competency in Word, Outlook

and Westlaw. Ideal candidates will be well organized, detail-oriented and able to independently

manage a caseload where work is time sensitive.

Qualifications

● 10+ years of experience handling PIP litigation from inception to conclusion. Additional

handling of first and third-party claims for auto carriers a plus

● Prior supervision of attorneys for 2+ years preferred

● Ability to take full responsibility for files

● Ability to audit files of other PIP attorneys under direct supervision to ensure accuracy

● Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive

law commensurate with level of experience

● Experience presenting and cross-examining lay and expert witnesses

● Experience directing support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to lawsuit

handling

● Experience as first chair trial attorney


● Experience working in a paperless electronic environment

● Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and courtroom presentation

● Preferred qualification is the handling of Insurance defense matters


Additional Information:

● Must have a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school and excellent academic

credentials

● Must have an active law license to practice in Michigan and a member in good standing with

the State Bar of Michigan

Office Location: Located in Southfield, MI; We cover jurisdictions throughout the state of Michigan.

Compensation: $145,000 - $170,000 annually based on experience

Operating Model: Required to work in-office 5 days per week
