About the Department

Are you an experienced construction professional ready to lead diverse projects from concept to completion? Our Facilities Maintenance and Operations Department is seeking a dedicated Construction Manager to oversee critical construction and renovation initiatives.

Position Duties

In this role, you 

  • Work with the project architect to evolve a "value engineered" design which is optimized to be easy to construct and still satisfy user requirements.  
  • Develop construction/renovation budgets by estimating labor, material, equipment, and time requirements.
  • Utilize hired employees and sub-contractors in very highly specialized and complex areas.
  • Maintain job records, requisition supplies and equipment, prepare material and job specifications, and maintain accountability for supplies and equipment.
  • Recruit qualified skilled construction trade workers and assist staff with personnel and operational problems.
  • Plan, confer with, and give administrative direction to staff engaged in construction/renovation projects.
  • Develop standards, policies, and procedures, set priorities, and inspect work while in progress and upon completion.
  • Reschedule work crews as necessary to meet changing needs and determine priorities within work plan.
  • Supervise the maintenance of timecards, overtime sheets, building plans, and blueprints.
  • Supervise and evaluate performance, schedule and approve employees leave requests, and counsels and disciplines employees.
  • Coordinate during design and construction phases with departments sponsoring projects.   
  • Keep immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, and
  • At least five (5) years of experience managing construction/renovation projects; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College-level courses in Engineering or Construction.
