Role:
The Accounting Representative supports the integrity of the credit union’s financial records by executing daily accounting operations and contributing to an accurate and timely month-end close. This role ensures compliance with internal controls, maintains general ledger accuracy, and supports financial reporting through reconciliations, journal entries, and analysis.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Processes and records daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable, vendor disbursements, employee reimbursements, and corporate credit card activity, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.Performs and documents account reconciliations (daily, weekly, and monthly), researches discrepancies, and resolves reconciling items in a timely manner to maintain accurate financial records.
Prepares and posts journal entries, maintains and balances general ledger accounts, and ensures all entries are properly supported and recorded in accordance with accounting standards.
Assists with the month-end close process, including preparing accruals, supporting schedules, and completing assigned close tasks within established deadlines.
Reviews financial data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency; investigates and resolves discrepancies in coordination with internal departments.
Communicates with internal teams, management, and external vendors to resolve routine accounting issues and ensure smooth operational workflows.
Knowledge and Skills:
- One or more years of accounting, bookkeeping or financial experience.
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education, certificaiton and relevant accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with accounts payable preferred.
- Experience working at a financial instutions is a plus
