CTIS is seeking a seasoned System Architect with 10+ years of experience to support the design, development, integration, and deployment of integrated software systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and guiding (understanding the big picture, engineering and deployment), and participating in hands-on architectural work for a large, enterprise level system in a fast-paced, agile, client-oriented environment. This is a highly visible, key position, working with Development Teams and federal government leadership on a daily basis. The position supports NIH’s eRA grants system.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Define and enforce best practices for software design and development
- Research and prototype new tools and technologies to meet both, new business requirements and evolving technical requirements such as automated SW development and delivery pipeline, DevOps integration, automated deployment, etc.
- Maintain architecture processes and documentation as defined by Client management
- Create architectural vision and high level design documentation for JEE Web Applications and Services
- Guide detail design work and technical implementation of the software solutions
- Support resolution of critical technical issues
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent
- At least 10 years in the Information Technology field, working with a broad range of technologies
- At least 5 years working as a System Architect in a large enterprise environment
- Hands-on experience in maintaining and supporting large enterprise systems in a production environment
- Experience in systems integration
- Prior experience in migrating complex systems into the Cloud environment including cost and technical evaluation as well as hands-on work
- Proven experience preparing and presenting technical documentation to various audiences.
- In-depth knowledge of Web and JEE technologies, solutions and frameworks.
- Experience with Oracle RDBMS and PL/SQL is required
- Ability to work on multiple assignments or projects in parallel, balancing time and schedule based on the business priorities of the organization
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Prior hand-on experience implementing automated deployment or DevOps
- Experience with Spring Code Framework, Spring MVC, Spring JDBC, and Rich Web Client is desired.
- Experience designing and implementing migration strategy into AWS using laaS and PaaS offerings is a plus
- Experience with Sparx EA or a similar product is a plus
- Prior experience being based at a Client site on a day to day basis
