Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Manager, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!
Role Summary:
The Manager, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) is responsible for maintaining Buckeye Bahamas Hub (“BBH”) equipment and systems within the E&I team’s scope of responsibility, to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency. The Manager, E&I plans, leads, directs, organizes, executes, and controls preventative, corrective and predictive maintenance activities to achieve these goals.
The Manager, E&I reports to the Director of Engineering & Maintenance for the Caribbean Region, and works closely with the Manager, Mechanical Maintenance on related maintenance processes. They must also assist in the coordination of Mechanical Technicians should the need arise.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:
- Administers Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Programs for new and existing systems under the team’s scope of responsibility.
- Administers Corrective Maintenance Programs for new and existing systems under the team’s scope of responsibility.
- Liaises regularly with BBH Operations to determine the scope, urgency, and timing of customer needs, and makes appropriate planning and prioritization decisions.
- Supervises E&I craftsmen and technicians assigned to the Electrical & Instrumentation area.
- Assists in identifying root cause shutdowns for any electrical related interruptions.
- Plan, schedule, and restart site shutdowns for any electrical and instrumentation related interruptions.
- Ensures the offices, work area and job sites are maintained safely and that all appropriate permits, procedures, and standards are adhered to; prior to, during and after a work assignment.
- Ensures the completion of all appropriate documentation as required by practice and procedures, including but not limited to Management of Change (“MOC”), Work Order Reports and Purchase Requisitions.
- Develops and administers training and development programs for E&I personnel, inclusive of record keeping systems, for technical, EH&S and other Buckeye mandated requirements.
- Ensures that records and documentation as required on installations, work orders, alterations, costs, training, and inspections are maintained. Produces summary reports on Forecasts, Job Status, and Inventories where required.
- Maintains complete and accurate, precise, legible, and detailed documentation pertaining to E&I equipment, systems, and personnel.
- Supports Engineering and Project personnel in the execution of Capital and Non-capital projects during the scope, design, construction, and close-out phases.
- Supports the Engineering and Project personnel who are responsible and in charge of the design and installation of all instrumentation, electrical, electronic, and DCS based systems. This includes the development or approval of design documentation, for example, Functional Requirements, Functional Specifications, Design Specifications, Datasheets, Single Line Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, etc.
- Supports Engineering and Project personnel for all electrical, instrumentation, electronic, and DCS based systems, reviews design, change control, procedural and other related site facility documents, and advises on technical matters involving the previously mentioned systems.
- Supports the procurement of MRO supplies and equipment required by Work Orders, Capital Projects, and Expense Projects. Assists the Supply chain and buyers in MRO maintenance and control.
- Ensures the E&I areas and activities adhere to appropriate Electric Code, EH&S and other regulatory standards.
- And other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university, together with ten (10) years of experience in the industrial electrical/instrumentation field, five (5) years of which must be at the supervisory or management level. Professional Engineering certification is desired but not required.
- OR A bachelor’s degree in a STEM focus program such as Physics, Mathematics or Chemical Engineering along with fifteen (15) years of experience in the industrial electrical/instrumentation and DCS field, seven (7) of which must be at the supervisory or management level.

Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:
- The Manager E&I must be an excellent communicator and planner, capable of expressing specific plans, objectives and performance criteria to craftsmen, professional and leadership personnel.
- The Manager, E&I will be required to do normal climbing, bending, and lifting (at least 15 kg) and therefore must be in good physical and mental health.
- The Manager, E&I must be capable of motivating, training, and coordinating the activities of a diverse group of individuals, with varying levels of qualifications and experiences. This includes applying appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
- The Manager, E&I must be able to perform and configure the DeltaV system installed at BBH.
- The Manager, E&I must ensure that his duties and the duties of those in his charge are conducted in accordance with the established work rules and safety practices and procedures at the BBH facility.
Essential Functions:

Physical & Safety Requirements:
- This role is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- This position requires the employee to regularly access and work at or around heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, moving on-track rail equipment, petroleum product or other chemical fumes, airborne particles like dust or other chemicals, vibration, uneven terrain, and high noise level in the work environment.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
- This role continuously operates a computer and other office productivity equipment (i.e. a calculator, copy machine and computer printer).
- ·The incumbent in this role must wear Fire Retardant Clothing (FRC) and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee is frequently required to effectively communicate with others.
- This position requires the ability to work comfortably and safely in the proximity to open water.
- This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol regulations.
