Job Description

POSITION:  Substitute Teacher / Substitute Support Staff


SALARY: Hourly and Daily Pay


 


Non Degree - $60 per day


College Degree - $65 per day


Certified Teachers - $75.00 per day


 


LONG TERM TEACHER SUBSTITUTES 
Long-term substitutes will be paid as follows beginning on the 21st consecutive day FOR THE SAME teacher 


 


Non Degree - $75 per day


College Degree - $100 per day


Certified Teachers - $125.00 per day


 


SUBSTITUTE SUPPORT STAFF


Paraprofessionals, aides, secretaries, and tutors - $54.37 daily 


Central Office Support - $10.00 hourly 


Child Nutrtion Personnel Substitute (Cafeteria workers) - $9.20 per hr. 


Custodians - $8.00 per hour 


Bus Aide Substitute - $29.00 per day (4 hr day)


Bus Driver Substitute - $64.40 per day (4 hr. day) __ For SY 24-25: TBD


 


DATES TO APPLY:  July 1, 2024 - July 25, 2024 


Qualified applicants who have submitted a complete application packet, all the certificates for completed mandated training, and complied with clearance requirements (background check and drug test) will be added to MPSD's Active Substitute List. 



QUALIFICATIONS


The applicant shall possess the certification required by the applicable rules and regulations of the Louisiana Department of Education and/or the Louisiana Board of Elementary & Secondary Education when the application begins to hold the position.  (See Bulletin 746)


 


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION



  • Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma or GED

  • Preferred qualifications: An Associate's Degree or higher. 

  • Has had a successful experience teaching or working with children/students



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CHARACTERISTICS



  • Empathy and the ability to effectively respond to student's needs

  • Satisfactory verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well and build effective working relationship with teachers and parents

  • Critical and problem solving skills

  • Classroom Management skills

  • Adaptable and flexible to different work stituations
