    Sanford Middle School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered educator to join our Grade 6 team for the 2026�2027 school year. 

    Position Overview:
    The selected candidate will teach Grade 6 Science using the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, standards-based instruction while supporting students in developing strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. This position may include also teaching one block of Social Studies as part of a collaborative team structure.

    Responsibilities

    • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging instruction aligned with curriculum standards
    • Build positive, supportive relationships with middle-level learners
    • Create a structured classroom environment with effective management practices
    • Collaborate with grade-level team members to support student success
    • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
    • Utilize data to inform instruction and support student growth

    Qualifications

    • Valid Maine Teaching Certificate (020 � Elementary) or eligibility to obtain certification (or comparable endorsement)
    • Current CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) fingerprinting
    • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team
    • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
    • Passion for working with middle school students
