POSITION TITLE: Assistant Elementary School Principal
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Manchester Park Elementary School

STATUS: Administrator - Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position assists in the responsibility for approximately 60 employees and 300-600 students. This position will serve as an instructional leader, building manager and district champion. This position reports to the Elementary School Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Services.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Display a data driven focus on student academic and social and emotional learning through continuous improvement of instruction as evidenced by student achievement or growth.
Building and sustaining relationships with all stakeholders (building principal, students, parents, building staff, and district personnel).
Assist the building principal with facilitating communication between staff, students and/or parents when evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
Support the building principal in managing a positive, orderly and safe building climate; will be responsible for working with student behavior issues.
Support the building principal in managing the fiscal, operational, and technological resources of the building in a way that focuses on effective instruction and the achievement of all students.
Participate in the selection, development, engagement and retention of high qualified staff.
Complete and discuss classified and teacher performance on a regular basis meeting the expectations of the performance appraisal process and timelines outlined by OPS board policy and Kansas Statutes.
Delegate and supervise responsibility for various administrative functions utilizing the talents of other staff members to assist with managing the school effectively.
Provide professional development for staff through observation, coaching and support to ensure a growth mindset for all.
Assist the building principal with serving as building communicator for district information with all staff.
Participate in Professional Development, PLC, workshops, etc. to gather and convey information.
Support and attend school functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Licensed as a school administrator in Kansas.
3 - 5 years of elementary classroom/instructional support experience.
Demonstrated leadership experience preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong background in instruction and instructional leadership
Champion of District Strategic Plan and Portrait of a Graduate
Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
High degree of motivation, responsibility and confidentiality
Ability to develop and analyze complex reports with a strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in calculations.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment
Highly collaborative team player focused on supporting the mission and vision of the building principal
Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)
Proficient in Assessment Tools (Panorama, NWEA and Mastery Connect, if possible)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the performance of medium work—which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The position includes occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.
This position can be a physical position that requires agility and crisis management skills. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere.
