Job Description

 

 JOB DESCRIPTION  

Summary/Objective 

The Lander is responsible for providing support to the stevedore gang and ensuring that the cargo is loaded and unloaded safely. The lander is responsible for practicing safe work habits and for maintaining a clean and safe workplace environment. 

Essential Functions 

  1. Sets up cables and twists locks in accordance with Sun Terminals guidelines 
  2. Assists with stopping mules  
  3. Performs a variety of manual labor tasks, including but not limited to, lifting and moving materials, loading and unloading cargo, and other activities as needed to support team with workload 
  4. Communicates professionally with team members, supervisors, and customers 
  5. Actively participates in safety or educational training as required 
  6. Follows all safety standards & guidelines, including but not limited to, wearing of safety glasses, wearing of steel-toed/safety shoes, appropriate safety gloves and proper attire 
  7. Any other duties, as assigned 

 Work Environment 

This position works in a port/terminal setting, with ample outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely stands for prolonged periods of time and performs other physical
activities as needed. Overtime, long hours and weekend work is expected. 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance 

 Employee must be authorized to work in the United States, obtain a port ID, and TWIC license.
