Fleet Mechanic
FLSA Status: Salary Exempt
Job Purpose
As a member of our Fleet Department, the Fleet Mechanic will work independently and with other fleet personnel to perform preventative maintenance and repairs of company-owned vehicles & equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform Preventative Maintenance and Repair Services to trucks and equipment to allow our operations teams to provide efficient and safe delivery of our services.
- Monitor, track, and update all services performed on company-owned assets using company tracking tools and software.
- Establish and maintain an ample parts inventory required to perform Preventative Maintenance to company-owned vehicles.
- Work closely with Fleet Manager and operations teams to plan off-season maintenance, repairs, and preventative equipment maintenance.
- Perform work according to scope and safety policies and guidelines.
- Work with the Fleet Manager to outsource repairs when needed, coordinating closely with vendors and operations teams to minimize downtime. Actively support the development and implementation of processes and best practices across equipment, fleet, and safety.
- Support and participate in developing, refining, and implementing current processes and best practices in equipment, fleet, and safety areas.
- Ensure a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Extensive diagnostic, troubleshooting, repair, and fabricating capabilities of trucks and landscape equipment.
- Strong welding and fabrication skills are a major plus and will be heavily weighted in the candidate selection process.
- Ability to effectively communicate, present information, and respond to questions, verbal and written.
- Adequate computer skills.
- Current driver's license and acceptable driving record. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Working Conditions
The position requires extended hours and flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on the demands of customers and snow removal operations.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to sit; walk; stand for up to seven (7) hours at a time; use hands to handle objects; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, talk, and hear. The team member must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include vision and the ability to read documents and a computer screen. Work environment: This role will occasionally require driving a company-owned vehicle to secure parts and or deliver cars to be repaired to a vendor's facility. It also requires the routine use of tools and equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to a noise level that is usually moderate.
Reports To
This position reports directly to the Fleet Manager.
The position also requires accommodating Branch Managers and Operation Managers.
