Job Description

JOB TITLE: Aquatic Coordinator

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:  Parks & Recreation

REPORTS TO: Aquatics Supervisor

SUMMARY: Responsible for the supervision of all assigned swimming instructor personnel and enforcement of all rules and regulations

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees the swimming class operation and is ultimately responsible for the safe and efficient management of the facilities during class sessions
  • Plans, organizes, schedules, and directs the activities of all swimming instructor personnel
  • Ensures that the recreational facility is operating in a timely manner
  • Administers employee evaluations for swimming instructor personnel and follows recommended discipline procedures.
  • Develops and conducts in service training programs for the staff assigned to programs
  • Establishes standard emergency operating procedures
  • Maintains daily records of attendance, maintenance, and administrative matters
  • Prepares an annual report on swim programs
  • Supervises the collection and deposits of all monies
  • Prepares requisitions for the procurement of supplies and equipment
  • Works outside and is exposed to extreme heat, cold, and temperature swings
  • Performs other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Operates equipment such as controllers, cash register, and computer

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of the pool’s safety rules
  • Thorough knowledge of the mechanical operation of all equipment used a the pool
  • Establishes emergency standard operating procedures
  • Works long hours during the summer months (approximately 40+ hours per week)
  • Maintains routine records and prepares routine reports
  • Must wear proper uniforms at all times

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years of experience in water activities functioning as either coach, teacher, or swim instructor
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have a valid Texas Class C Driver’s license
  • Must possess valid First Aid/CPR and Water Safety Instructor’s Certificates

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
