Job Description

Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the world’s best pre-K through 12th grade private schools, where approximately 2,200 students from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided with a cost-free home and a top-notch education.  Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, the school is fully endowed today, with the resources to ensure students can thrive.  The school has prepared over 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students.

MHS is currently seeking a Per-Diem Registered School Nurse (PRN) to join the growing health care team. The health center is staffed by Registered Nurses, Physicians, Certified Nursing & Medical Assistants and Staff Assistants that provides comprehensive health care to students in a 40-bed infirmary for ill, injured, or postoperative students, as well as mental wellness services.  The PRNs work two 12-hour weekend shifts in a 4-week scheduling period (up to 29 hours per week). Hourly pay rate: $40.80 - $47.94 depending on the shift scheduled.  Per-diem employees do not receive benefits.

  • PA Registered Nurse License required, bachelor’s degree in nursing, preferred.

  • Minimum of two years nursing experience, physical assessment, primary pediatric, school health and/or emergency nursing, and counseling skills.

  • Valid license to practice as a registered nurse in PA, required.

  • Valid PA Driver's license in good standing.

  • Ability and willingness to be flexible regarding the work schedule is essential.

  • Current CPR certification and advanced first aid training.

  • School Nurse Certification a plus.

  • Candidates must demonstrate a high level of integrity, as all MHS Staff are role models for the MHS Students.

  • Candidates should be willing to actively engage with MHS students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.
