VSI, the leading concierge spinal healthcare practice in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our award-winning team. This highly compassionate individual will deliver professional and holistic care in an outpatient setting and will be responsible for patient safety and care pre, intra and post-procedure. The RN will work side by side with providers to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall care and comfort of patients before, during, and after procedures
- Establishes and maintains intravenous access
- Administers intravenous medication including moderate sedation and antibiotics
- Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt and professional manner
- Prepares and organizes the sterile field for each procedure by ensuring all required equipment and supplies are present
- Prepares the procedure site by cleaning the area and draping the patient
- Assesses, monitors, and charts vital signs and stability of patients during the procedure – reports changes and concerns to physicians
- Collaborates with physicians about patient care and treatment plan
- Prepares patients for discharge and provides patient education and discharge instructions
- Cleans and sterilizes surgical tools by utilizing the autoclave
- Records and monitors crash cart and controlled substance inventory counts
- Prepares procedure charts and accurately documents all clinical related work
Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited BSN program and holds an active RN license in the state of Virginia
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience with knowledge of the sterile field
- BLS certification required ACLS/PALS preferred
- Skilled in venipuncture and obtaining IV access
- Operates professionally and efficiently in a busy and highly dynamic environment
- Exhibits empathy and compassion toward patients
- Ability to collaborate within a team setting and work with minimal supervision
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks at a time
- Adept at learning new skills, reliable and adaptable
- Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, No nights and/or weekends
Physical Demands
This position requires intermittent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching as well as minor lifting and supporting of patients.
