Job Description

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides support and skills training to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a residential setting and within the community.

Eleven people, each with his or her own distinct personality and goals, live at Reed residence which is located in downtown Kingston.  In the warmer weather, they like being outside, spending time at the park or enjoying barbecues.  A shopping excursion to the mall or making plans to go out to enjoy a meal wouldn't be unusual.  Employees who have experience in a healthcare setting would be especially helpful at Reed. If you enjoy being involved in the community and you have a strong desire to motivate, influence, and enrich the lives of others as they pursue their goals and ambitions, then Reed may offer the positive career experience you are looking for.

A high school diploma or GED is desired.  Post-high-school education in Human Services is a definite plus.  An acceptable NYS driver's license and basic computer knowledge are a must.  An informative, paid new hire orientation is provided in a comfortable learning environment.  Training will also include Van Certification, SCIP, First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration certification.
