    Primary Purpose:
    Assist the school principal in overall administration, to provide instructional leadership in a number of specific areas of school operations.  Coordinate assigned student activities and services.
        
    Qualifications:

    Education/Certification:
    ?    Master's degree Required
    ?    Educational Administration Preferred
    ?    Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
    ?    Advanced Education Leadership (AEL) certification, Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD)
    ?    Certified Appraisal System (T-TESS) or District Adopted Appraisal System

    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    ?    Thorough understanding of school operations
    ?    Strong background in effective instructional strategies
    ?    Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
    ?    Ability to coordinate campus support operations

    Experience:
    ?    Minimum of three years' experience as a classroom teacher
    ?    Bilingual Preferred

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:
        
    Instructional Management:
    1.    Provide instructional feedback to teachers and administration based on classroom observations and walk throughs.
    2.    Reinforce expectations for staff performance about instructional strategies and classroom management.
    3.    Assist in the disaggregation and interpretation of data to assist in developing appropriate next steps.
    4.    Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs.
    5.    Encourage and support development of instructional programs, helping teachers implement district initiatives.
    6.    Promote use of technology in teaching/learning process.
    7.    Assist in the development and implementation of campus safety nets.
    8.    Participate in development of campus improvement plan with staff, parents and community members.

    School/Organizational Improvement
    9.    Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
    10.    Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
    11.    Communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
    12.    Participate in development of campus improvement plan with staff, parents and community members.
    13.    Assist principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain and track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.

    Personnel Management
    14.    Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
    15.    Assist in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.

    Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
    16.    Supervise operations in principal's absence.
    17.    Assist in planning daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
    18.    Supervise reporting and monitoring of student grading and attendance and work with the attendance clerk on follow-up investigations.
    19.    Work with grade level chairs and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.
    20.    Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts for materials.
    21.    Assist with safety inspections and drills.
    22.    Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services as assigned.
    23.    Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policy.

    Student Management
    24.    Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
    25.    Assist in the development and implementation of a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.
    26.    Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
    27.    May act as campus behavior coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations.
    28.    Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline as appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook.
    29.    Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.

    Professional Growth and Development
    30.    Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
    31.    Assist in campus directed professional development as directed by the principal.

    School/Community Relations
    32.    Articulate the district and school mission to community and solicit its support in realizing mission.
    33.    Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
    34.    Utilize appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    35.    Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with school principal.  Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.
