JOB VACANCY: Licensed School Psychologist

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
 Twelve (12) Months

QUALIFICATIONS:


The applicant shall possess the certification required by the applicable rules and regulations of the Louisiana State Department of Education and/or the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education at the time that the applicant begins to hold the position.

EVALUATOR: Pupil Appraisal & Discipline Compliance Coordinator


                      Director for Special Education


 


JOB GOAL:  To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by providing a full range of pupil appraisal services to students in need of such assistance.


 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


1. Provide in-service training and consultation services on matters relative to pupil appraisal services.


2. Assist school personnel in completing the initial screening process as outlined in Bulletins 1508 and 1706.


3. Conducts evaluations and assessments of students to determine eligibility for needed educational, behavioral,
    psychological, and other support services needed. 


4. Coordinates the evaluation process for all students referred or identified as needing support services.


5. Provides written evaluation / assessment reports, and interprets the results to school
    personnel, parents, and other persons involved in the successful implementation of the individualized plan of intervention
    following the established regulations.


6. Participate in special education eligibility determination and IEP meetings


7. Provide guidance and assistance to school personnel and parents in the design and implementation of appropriate
    interventions and accommodations for students. 


8. Assist in addressing the schools’ needs for crisis intervention via development of a comprehensive Crisis Preparedness and
    Response Plan, and facilitate/provide crisis management intervention efforts and needs assessment(s) as needed.


9. Contribute to program development that furthers the integration of social, coping, and problem-solving in the classroom.


10. Provide individual or group therapy/ counseling for all students/employees referred, and those identified as in need of
      such services.


11. Assist in the delivery of in-service training of school personnel on topics related to students with exceptional needs,
      behavior intervention, and crisis management.


12. Coordinates and/or collaborates with support agencies/organizations to promote and provide comprehensive services to
      schools, students and families.


13. Proficiently use technology to communicate, complete, & keep up-to-date reports, and data as required by district and
      state policy.


14. Complete all required evaluation reports within the required timelines and established regulations.


15. Keep abreast of current trends, techniques, and regulations in the area of education and psychology.


16. Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate authority.


 


EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated in accordance with the parish Evaluation Plan.
