These are seasonal positions and, if activated, will likely require travel on short notice, generally lasting from several days to a few weeks and possibly 30 days or more, depending on the disaster response needs. Ideal candidates for these missions will be available to deploy within 24 to 72 hours of notification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment to safely load, unload, and move materials and supplies.
- Support the setup and demobilization of logistics operations at deployment sites.
- Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Assist with general material handling and logistical support tasks as needed.
- Follow all safety regulations and operational protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
- Work collaboratively with logistics and field operations teams to meet response objectives.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A valid certification(s) for operating heavy equipment (e.g., telehandlers, forklifts) is required. This role involves working in a variety of environmental
conditions, including outdoor and potentially hazardous settings. Flexibility
to work irregular hours—such as nights, weekends, and holidays—is essential,
particularly during emergency deployments. The position also requires the
ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment in logistics, construction, or emergency response settings is preferred.
- Must be physically capable of lifting heavy materials and working outdoors in diverse environmental conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills are preferred.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., loaders, excavators, cherry pickers, bulldozers) is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation is required.
