    ML Parent Liaison

    Objective:  Increase parent and family involvement.  The role is to establish effective communication between home and improve community outreach and training opportunities for ESOL parents and families of students in grades K-12 that will impact high school student academic performance for our English Language Learners.
    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Contact parents and families through phone calls, home visits and meetings at school to encourage participation in school activities and events.

     

    1. Provide information to parents concerning district policy and procedures such as registration, PTO, curriculum, assessment, discipline, etc.

     

    1. Contact outside community agencies for seeking resources and activities that will increase the participation of English Language Learner families in school and parent training opportunities.

     

    1. Establish a parent resource room containing information for parents relating to registration, parent teacher communication, student success and school and community resources.

     

    1. Perform other position-related duties as assigned by the district or school.

     
    Qualifications:

    • Must be fluent in English and Spanish
    • Must have flexibility to work some evenings during parent and/or school events
    • Experience in the use of technology and the use of Office Word/Excel, Powerschool
    • Must meet the requirements for paraprofessionals:
      • Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; or
      • Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or
      • Have taken and met minimum score on ParaPro Assessment
