Job Description

THIS PART-TIME ROLE WITH THE ACCOUNTING DIVISION OF THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT IS APPROXIMATELY 20 HOURS PER WEEK WITH A FLEXIBLE MONDAY-FRIDAY SCHEDULE.

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

Under broad supervision of the Controller, prepares and examines financial records, data and reports. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Compiles financial information and prepares schedules and reports, including but not limited to financial statements, business activity reports, and reports required by regulatory agencies (including State of CT unclaimed property).
  2. Prepares data and creates reports to inform the work of others, such as contributing to the annual audits (e.g., town-wide audit) and aiding with the annual budgetary process.
  3. Reconciles account balances, including retiree health insurance bills, Town Payroll bank account, and Town Accounts Payable bank account. Uses activity management software to record departmental activity and reconcile associated bank accounts. Tracks farmland leases and payments.
  4. Prepares annual GASB 87 Leases and GASB 96 Subscription-Based Information Technology Arrangements reporting. Coordinates collection of related data with various Town departments. Participates in the preparation of other sections of Annual Comprehensive Financial Report as needed.
  5. Contributes to a respectful and safe work environment by fostering a culture of positive communication, ethical behavior and emphasis on providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.

OTHER DUTIES:

  1. Provides back-up to Account Clerk, Payroll Coordinator and Controller in preparation of month-end closing activities.
  2. Provides administrative and technical support to accounting and finance personnel.
  3. Completes special projects as assigned.
  4. Performs other duties as required.
