The Senior/Executive Director, Project Management will lead the development and implementation of project management standards, tools, and staff development programs across the clinical Global Project Management function. This role will oversee a team focused on enhancing project management capabilities and ensuring consistency in practices across the organization. The Senior Director will serve as a strategic leader and is critical to ensuring excellence in project delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Project Management Office (PMO) function, including the development and implementation of project management standards and tools.
Design and oversee staff development programs to enhance project management capabilities by proactively identifying capability gaps and building resolutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional department leaders to ensure alignment of project management practices with organizational objectives.
Partner with Therapeutic Area project management leaders to understand needs and implement solutions.
Support the adoption of continuous improvement initiatives across the project management function.
Consistently monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PMO initiatives and routinely create improvements.
Serve as a subject matter expert in project management methodologies and best practices.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards in project management processes.
Lead and grow a high performing team, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management for direct and indirect reports.
Qualifications:
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Deep understanding of global clinical research operations and clinical development practices
Proven success developing SOPs and implementing scalable systems
Strong executive‑level communication and presentation skills
Ability to influence without direct authority in a complex, matrixed organization
Demonstrated ability to translate strategic vision into operational execution
Preferred
PMP or equivalent project management certification
Experience leading regional, geographically dispersed project management teams
