Knox County Job and Family Services is seeking a full-time Social Worker 2 - Program Support Caseworker to join their team. This is a bargaining unit position. Among their many duties, a Program Support Caseworker provides case management services to abused and neglected children, their families, and licensed placement resources as well as providing support to achieve program goals and objectives.
Position Duties
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to professionally and respectfully communicate, define problems, collect data, establish facts then analyze and draw valid conclusions based on the information collected
- Execute verbal instructions, work cooperatively with other agency staff, service providers and community partners.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and function effectively with minimal direction.
- Knowledge and skill in working in the following areas: child development, family systems theory, crisis intervention, domestic violence and substance use disorder.
- Effective communication both written and verbal.
- Perform physical activities including but not limited to lifting to fifty (50) pounds occasionally, crouching, reaching, lifting, pulling, standing, walking, manual dexterity, grasping, talking, sitting and hearing.
Responsibilities: Provide case management services to abused and neglected children, their families and licensed placement resources. Provide support to achieve program goals & objectives.
- Assessments and Case Management
- Assess safety and risk of all children being served in all interactions.
- Attends and participates in necessary court hearings; supervision and training; family team meetings; case reviews; semi-annual reviews; individual and group supervision sessions; team and staff meetings and any other relevant training or agency meeting.
- Assist clients with referrals and with obtaining emergency needs through community resources.
- Assist clients with obtaining information, completing forms and understanding programs and procedures
- Meet compliance requirements as established by federal and state laws/regulations and agency policies.
- Resource Parent Case Management
- Provide case management for KCDJFS foster, adoptive, and kinship resource parents to provide support in managing placement of youth in their home.
- Monitor each foster/adoptive/kinship home for compliance with licensing requirements.
- Complete Individualized Training Needs Assessment (ITNA) and develop a plan with licensed foster/adopt resource parents.
- Assists foster care licensing specialist with obtaining required forms and documentation for initial certification and re-certification of resource parents.
- Maintains records and related documents for cases and referrals.
- Complete timely, accurate case documentation and entering data into various computer data systems.
- Scans and documents information into EDMS/TRAVERSE.
- Complete random moment sampling and timekeeping timely
- Supervise parent child visitations at KCDJFS or in the community as assigned.
- Screen abuse/neglect calls as requested by supervisor.
- Front desk reception coverage as assigned by supervisor.
- Works closely with Agency attorney and legal assistant on case preparation, presentation, and testimony for Juvenile Court involvement, when applicable.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification):
- A bachelor’s degree in human services-related studies, or A bachelor’s degree in any field and have been employed for at least two years in a human services occupation.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance as required by county employment.
- Satisfactory BCI and FBI background check and employment pre-screening
