About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking educator to fill the unique role of SEL & Technology Specials Teacher. In an era where students’ social lives and academic pursuits are inextricably linked to the digital world, this role serves as a vital bridge.
You will be responsible for managing the school’s technology lab/media center while delivering a curriculum that prioritizes Digital Citizenship and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Your goal is to produce students who are not just tech-literate, but tech-aware—empowering them to use tools creatively while maintaining their emotional well-being and interpersonal connections.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Instructional Leadership: Design and implement a "Specials" rotation curriculum for grades [K-5] that meets state technology standards and CASEL SEL competencies. The teacher will instruct K-5 students daily.
- Digital Citizenship: Teach students the ethics of the internet, including privacy, cyberbullying prevention, and the impact of the "digital footprint."
- Technical Literacy: Introduce foundational skills such as keyboarding, G-Suite/Office 365, introductory coding ( and other coding software), and creative media production.
- Emotional Regulation: Utilize technology-based projects to teach perseverance through "productive struggle," collaborative problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
- Lab Management: Oversee the physical and digital environment of the technology lab, ensuring equipment is cared for and the atmosphere is inclusive and trauma-informed.
- Peer Collaboration: Act as a consultant for classroom teachers to help them integrate SEL-friendly technology practices into their daily instruction.
- Use of SEL Program: The teacher will instruct students using the social and emotional learning program provided by Lotus School for Excellence - Elementary, as well as, incorporate the indicators.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Educational Technology, Social and Emotional Learning, or other related field.
- Certification: Valid Colorado Teaching License. (Endorsements in Computer Science, Social Emotional Learning, or Instructional Technology are a plus)-preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a classroom setting, preferably in a diverse or high-needs environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Interactive Whiteboards, LMS platforms (Canvas/Google Classroom), and educational software (Nearpod, Kahoot, etc.).
- Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence, excellent de-escalation skills, and a "growth mindset" approach to troubleshooting.
