Job Description

The Physical Exercise and Wellness Coach / Trainer (Deer Valley) support female members who are transitioning out of incarceration and or addiction and re-entering society by providing structured, compassionate, and consistent physical wellness programming. This role is responsible for leading, supervising, and supporting daily Physical Exercise and Wellness classes that help members build healthy habits, discipline, confidence, and positive routines.

Members are required to participate in one hour of Physical Exercise and Wellness classes each day at their assigned group time. The program provides training and oversight for three one-hour classes per day, five days per week.

This position supports the organization’s mission to inspire successful community reentry for all members and drive their success through compassionate, introspective, peer-driven support.

The Physical Exercise and Wellness Coach / Trainer help create positive repetition through daily structure, movement, education, encouragement, and accountability. These services are designed to help members develop good life habits that support personal growth, recovery, and successful reentry into the community.

Your Impact Will Include:

  • Lead and oversee three one-hour Physical Exercise and Wellness classes each weekday.
  • Supervise members in the gym and the outdoor track.
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all members.
  • Encourage participation while demonstrating patience, humility, and empathy.
  • Teach proper use of strength training and cardio equipment.
  • Support members with varying fitness levels, physical abilities, and wellness needs.
  • Provide basic health and wellness education in a clear and practical way.
  • Help members build positive routines, discipline, confidence, and healthy coping skills.
  • Model professionalism, consistency, and servant leadership.
  • Monitor member’s behavior and participation during assigned class times.
  • Communicate concerns, progress, or incidents to appropriate leadership.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization within the exercise and wellness areas.
  • Reinforce program expectations while remaining compassionate and nonjudgmental.
  • Support the overall reentry mission through restorative and transformative service.

Where You’ll Work:

The Physical Exercise and Wellness program is made up of three main areas:

The Gym – Members participate in strength training and cardio activities using available fitness equipment.

The Outdoor Track – Members walk, jog, or participate in structured movement activities that support cardiovascular health and personal wellness.

Health and Wellness Class – Members learn about important health topics, wellness habits, physical fitness, nutrition, self-care, stress management, and other subjects that support long-term success.

  • The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, structured, and mission-driven. They understand that physical exercise is not only about fitness, but also about helping members build discipline, confidence, consistency, emotional regulation, and positive daily habits.
  • This person should be comfortable working in a behavioral health and reentry environment and should believe in the power of restoration, transformation, and second chances.
  • This is a full-time position working: Monday through Friday 4:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Weekends off)
