Job Description

About the Department

Participate in scheduled rehearsals and support performances as a member of the Shakespeare in the Parks ensemble. In addition to performing as part of the cast ensemble, apprentices will assist with production tasks such as load-in/load-out, basic backstage support, and other duties as assigned, while gaining hands-on experience in a professional touring environment.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Division presents the Shakespeare in the Parks Tour, featuring As You Like It in Summer 2026. This annual program offers a professional, free, family-friendly Shakespeare production that tours parks throughout Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties. Audiences enjoy high-quality theatre in a relaxed outdoor setting—perfect for lawn chairs, picnics, and accessible cultural experiences for a broad community.

Eligibility
Teens ages 16–18 with an interest in theatre and performance are encouraged to apply.

Rehearsal and Performance Schedule
Rehearsals begin May 16. Technical rehearsals run June 7–11. Preview performance is June 12. Performances are scheduled between June 14 and July 8.
